Growing up in Omaha, Nebraska, I learned early that hard work, honesty, and treating people the right way are values that never go out of style. In 2015, my wife and I moved to the Black Hills to build a life centered around family, community, and the outdoors.
Before entering the construction industry, I served as an Executive Chef for a large healthcare organization, leading teams responsible for preparing more than 35,000 meals each month. That experience taught me the importance of leadership, communication, accountability, and delivering consistent results under pressure.
Over the last six years, I’ve worked on more than 500 residential exterior projects throughout the region. During that time, I developed a passion for educating homeowners, setting clear expectations, and creating a smooth, predictable experience from start to finish.
As I gained experience in the industry, I noticed many companies becoming increasingly disconnected from the homeowners they served. Communication often suffered, accountability became diluted, and projects felt more transactional than personal. That realization led me to co-found Exterior Pros alongside my business partner, Cody Stout.
Together, we bring nearly 20 years of combined exterior construction experience to every project. More importantly, we share a simple philosophy: do the right thing, communicate honestly, take ownership of our work, and always put the homeowner first.
When I’m not working with homeowners, you’ll usually find me spending time with my wife and daughter, exploring the Black Hills, skiing, or cooking for family and friends.
Cody Stout
Co-Founder
I was born and raised in Fort Pierre, South Dakota, where I learned the value of hard work early through hands-on experience in construction, landscaping, maintenance, and project management. Those experiences laid the foundation for a career that has now spanned more than 13 years in the construction and exterior remodeling industry.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked on residential and commercial projects across a wide range of services, including roofing, siding, gutters, windows, custom metal work, and exterior renovations. I’ve had the opportunity to work in both the field and leadership roles, giving me a deep understanding of every stage of a project—from planning and production to customer service and final installation.
What I’ve always enjoyed most about this industry is helping homeowners protect and improve one of their most important investments. I believe quality workmanship, honest communication, and doing what you say you’re going to do are the foundation of a successful project and a successful business.
In 2021, my wife Traci and I moved to the Black Hills to be closer to family and enjoy the outdoor lifestyle we love. Today, we’re raising our daughter here and taking advantage of everything western South Dakota has to offer.
That passion for serving homeowners and building lasting relationships led me to co-found Exterior Pros alongside my business partner, AJ Macaitis. Together, we bring nearly 20 years of combined exterior construction experience to every project, with a shared commitment to integrity, accountability, and exceptional customer service.
When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family, riding ATVs, attending sporting events, dirt track racing, fishing, hunting, or enjoying the outdoors throughout the Black Hills.
